Using UHMW for Boat Ribs and Haul Bottoms

Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW). There are a few reasons for putting it on boats.
First is wear resistance. UHMW is extremely abrasion resistant – much more so than aluminum.

Second is reduced friction. You will find that when you ground a boat with UHMW it is much easier to slide it back into the water.
third is impact resistance. While UHMW is fairly flexible and will not generally keep your hull from getting bent, it is quite impact resistant and will tend to keep rocks from knocking holes in your boat.
